Reel Support is a new vision for financing that recognizes the importance of private-sector support of domestic production. A grassroots initiative, Reel Support is a vehicle through which industry-leading manufacturers and suppliers can contribute toward a strong indigenous feature-film industry.

Story Optioning Phase:
2009: April 16, Sept. 30
2010: Feb. 3, June 2

Script Development Program:
2009: April 16, Sept. 30
2010: Feb. 3, June 2

Equity Investment Program:
The Equity Investment Program is now closed for the 2008 fiscal year. Please call the office to assess eligibility if you are planning to submit a project for the next fiscal year (September 2009.)

The Family Film Program is closed.

Documentary Program:
The Documentary Program is closed.

Decisions:
Decisions for the April 16, 2009 deadline will be mailed out to all applicants on June 29, 2009.

Projects Supported by The Harold Greenberg Fund
The Fund, since its inception in 1986, has supported 2,653 script development, feature film and family television series projects and training grants for an investment of over $62 million to date in the Canadian film and television industry.
Passchendaele Takes Home 6 Genie Awards!

Paul Gross’ sweeping Canadian war epic Passchendaele cleaned up at this year’s Genie Awards ceremony in Ottawa, taking home a total of 6 awards, including Best Picture and The Golden Reel AwardPasschendaele received support from The Harold Greenberg Fund’s Equity Investment Program in 2007.

A total of 13 films supported by The Fund and Le Fonds received Genie nominations this year, including Amal, Emotional Arithmetic, Fugitive Pieces, Heaven on Earth, Normal and The Stone AngelAmal took home the Genie for Achievement in Music – Original Song, Fugitive Pieces was recognized for its Achievement in Cinematography and The Stone Angel won Achievement in Music – Original Score.  Callum Keith Rennie received a Genie for his work in Normal (Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role), and Ellen Burstyn was recognized in the category of Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (The Stone Angel.)
